Robbie Williams, the hot British singer, turned 33 on February 13 and gave himself the best present he could give himself, according to his mother.  Instead of going out and partying with his friends to celebrate his birthday, he admitted himself to an US rehab center.  Ever since he left the boysband Take That, he has been struggling with drugs and an alcohol addiction.  Williams talked about his addiction and depending on drugs to overcome his depressed feelings two years ago.  Last september he stopped touring because he was getting exhausted and needed a break.  He has now checked in to get some help with his addiction to prescription drugs.He checked into rehab for the first time in 1995, when he left Take That.  Last year the boys invited him for a Take That reunion, but Robbie turned the offer down.  The new Take That had a number one hit with “Patience”, while Robbie’s Rudebox had mixed reviews. Since he has parted from Guy Chambers, his songwriting partner, his musical reputation hasn’t been the same.

Williams had already admitted that he tried to get off drugs earlier this year, but his body seemed to be really addicted to the stuff.  In a documentary on the BBC on bipolar disorder Robbie talked about depression and drugs, stating that the first drug he used would be fantasy to escape depression.  He tried cocaine and drinks, but it all made him ill.  So after a year of trying to overcome his depression, he started taking antidepressants.Last week rumors started again, when the star went on stage looking sweaty and bloated.  Insiders tell Robbie is exhausted and the tour brought him to a breaking point.  Robbie could stand in front of a crowd and give the best of himself, but once he returned to his tour coach, he would crawl into bed and pull the duvet over his eyes.The British star hopes he will be able to win his battle with the help of the Los Angeles rehab center and to be able to get on with the rest of his life.
