Lots of people will countdown to July 21 2007, because that’s the date that the last book in the Harry Potter series will be published. The book will hit the racks at 12:01 am. Rowling revealed this news on her website last Thursday. She didn’t reveal any other secrets about the book. She teased us last summer by telling that two main characters will meet for the final battle. Harry Potter and the Deathly Shallows will be the last of seen books about the wizard. The sixth book sold 2,009,574 copies in the United Kingdom and over 6.9 million copies worldwide, on the first day it was in the bookstores. This year will be the 10th anniversary of the first book. All the books in the series have been on the bestseller list and an instant hit. Bloomsbury will publish different editions on the same day: a hardback edition for kids, one for adults, an audio book and a gift edition. Scholastic Children’s Books in the United States offers a reinforced library edition, a regular edition and a deluxe edition. Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry in the movies, is stirring things up. The actor will star in London’s West End revival of Peter Shaffer’s Equus. This play tells the tale of the stable-hand, Alan Strang, with a strange fixation with horses. It will be directed by Thea Sharrock. There’s nothing wrong with starring in a play, but the fact that Daniel will be playing some nude scenes makes it news worthy. The pictures of Radcliffe naked alongside a horse and together with a naked Joanna Christie cause a media firestorm. In a recent interview with Newsweek magazine Daniel, 17, stated that he wants to shake people’s perception. He wants people to know he’s capable of doing more than playing Harry Potter. The play will officially open at the Gielgud Theater on February 27.
